Indianapolis, IN- Three members of the Bedford County Technical Center’s FFA chapter were awarded the American FFA Degree at the 92nd National FFA Convention & Expo, which was held October 30 through November 2 in Indianapolis.

Heidi Barkley, Carla Bush, and Delanee Cessna earned the American FFA Degree, which bestowed up on a select group of students in recognition of their years of academic and professional excellence. This year, 4,353 American Degrees were awarded.  

Heidi Barkley of Manns Choice is the daughter of Melanie Barkley and Brian Barkley. Heidi is currently a student at Penn State University majoring in Animal Science.

Carla Bush of Bedford is the daughter of Chris and Carol Bush. Carla is attending Delaware Valley University majoring in Food Science.

Delanee Cessna of Bedford is the daughter of Mike and Tiffany Cessna. Delanee is enrolled in the Agribusiness degree at Potomac State College.

The American FFA Degree is awarded annually at the National FFA Convention & Expo to less than one percent of FFA members, making it one of the organization’s highest honors.

To be eligible, FFA members must have earned and productively invested $10,000 through a supervised agriculture enterprise. Recipients must also complete 50 hours community service and demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and civic involvement.

Each recipient of the American FFA Degree receives a gold American FFA Degree key and a certificate while being recognized on stage at the national convention.
